New Bridge on the Roquena Trail!

During 2020, in spite of Covid 19 and the CZU Fire, a motivated volunteer crew of La Honda locals built a beautiful wooden bridge over the first precarious, and partly damaged scaffold bridge.

This year, in 2025, it happened again! Another motivated volunteer crew, again spearheaded by CLHG board member Liam Hussey, assembled a new aluminum truss bridge – with a beautiful locally sourced redwood deck – over the second scaffold bridge.

This project, much further up the trail, presented new challenges that were solved by assembling the truss bridge in sections, then carrying them from the top of the trail down to the site. Nonetheless, it was an arduous task – now completed!

Check out the old scaffold bridge…

Here’s the second phase (the first was assembling the bridge in sections at Liam’s house), when a bunch of volunteers hauled the bridge in parts down to the site…

Then, assembly took several days…

Ya don’t wanna have a screw loose…!

Voila

Be careful out there, and thanks for being a responsible trail user…

Easter Egg Hunt 2025

Once again, La Honda families gathered for the annual Easter Egg Hunt!

Sorry about the untimely post. If you are finding this, and want to get involved update the CLHG blog, please inquire in the Guild Office during regular business hours.

Thanks!

Easter Egg Hunt 2024

Happy Spring Time Y’all! La Hondans and others gathered on Sunday, the last day of March, for the CLHG annual Easter Egg Hunt. Great fun, but the Golden Eggs were hard to find this year. (You too can earn one on the trophy at the Fourth of July Picnic – our next big event!)

4th of July Picnic ~ 2023

Once again, La Honda came together for a fun & spirited community event: the 4th of July Picnic sponsored by CLHG. Once again, the event was organized by Corinne Poulson with deep staff of seasoned volunteers. By her, for the newsletter…

“Another memorable 4th of July picnic in the books! Huge turnout this year. Bob White says maybe one of the biggest he’s seen. That explains why the beer and side dishes disappeared so quickly. Balloon stomp had us all on the edge of our seats. Great music. Loved seeing all the painted faces. And boy did we get lucky with the weather! All in all, a fantastic day in Playbowl.

This event cannot happen without volunteers. You know who you are and you are so appreciated! And a special shout out for the volunteers that do the behind the scenes tasks- Costco runs, loading and unloading trucks with supplies, inventory, etc. Thank you all!!

And lastly, a final BIG thanks to the following businesses that helped do their part to make the picnic go off without a hitch- Coastside Baking, Skywood Trading Post, Applejack’s Bar.

See everyone next year!”

In addition to crazy games and great music, participants enjoyed a delicious lunch. (Note for next year: more pot luck plates and more beverages.) Enjoy some videos below, time lapse and otherwise. Neighbors, send more photos that we can post…

Above, a fearsome fast balloon stomp and the water cup race.

Below, the picnic players and a coupla pix….

Rebuilding the Riding Ring, Part 2

A viewing stand will be added, as will some parking particulars, but the newly rebuilt riding ring is complete! Ray and his team of volunteers did careful work so the new arena will last a long time. Check it out…

Thanks to Ray and all the volunteers who helped. Here’s the completed riding ring…

Rebuilding the Riding Ring, Part 1

Thanks to the efforts and determination of Ray Harless, along with equestrians and CLHG support, our horse riding ring, which was starting to fall apart, is being rebuilt! Yay Ray!

Ray gets some help from others, or advice, and we’re not sure if those are the same thing?

It takes a village!
